MONET NETWORK - System for mobile applications without servers

Many online services, which are used every day, only involve people at relatively close range and almost completely rely on trusted third parties who act as coordinators. Mobile devices, which keep us connected, only operate as a client to the server managed by this intermediary. While the system works well, it suffers from weaknesses inherent in a centralized model; users lose privacy, transparency, and control over their data and calculations. In addition, the cost of mediation is finally passed on to the end user.

What is needed is a system for mobile servers without servers where people can interact directly with each other without fully returning to a third party or extended group of participants. This involves three basic operations:

1. Distributed Consensus: reach agreement among a group of colleagues, connect with an unreliable communication network, without returning to a third party.
2. Interoperability: allows the exchange of information on all consensus networks, online or offline.
3. Peer-discovery: look for other colleagues to connect with, based on location and activity.

MONET is an open network architecture, realized by a set of software tools and protocols, designed to overcome this problem. MONET is building a free and open source Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows developers to add blockchain consensus to their applications. It introduces a new paradigm where users dynamically join or form local blockchain during their interactions, and eliminate the need for servers.

Thanks to the blockchain design, each user can record records that cannot be changed and can be audited from group correspondence, providing a basic layer of accountability and interoperability. Babble blockchain is theoretically compatible with the current Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) which generally allows verification on one blockchain that transactions occur on another blockchain. This facilitates the transfer of assets and data across application boundaries and runs in the sense of an open network architecture.
